The Art of Open Loft Living

Finally back home from weeks of travel (I'm done for now -- homesickness was torturous this time around). The first thing on the local itinerary was view an exhibit in 14th Factory in DTLA. What an expansive space, and my forever love affair for loft spaces were rekindled, imagining what I could do in each room in the gallery.

I often wander online to see successful open concept spaces and came across this one which is located in Barcelona. But Oracle Fox is right -- it is quite a New York City type of dwelling.

I totally dig the all-white palette, and of course exposed rafters (one of my obsessions), and all-time favorite Crittal factory windows. Just the right portion of industrial fixtures such as old medical cabinets and garage secondary storage type shelving.

STOCKHOLM 2017

Every year the STOCKHOLM collection excites everyone I know, including myself. The collections have proven a deserving spot in our homes. 2017 is no different, with introduction to dark blues plus sustainable materials, I am hooked. That rattan chair is gorgeous, and the caning on some pieces gives a classic touch.

A Marriage between Italian and Scandinavian

In Oslo, the boutique Kollekted by is owned by designers Alessandro D’Orazio and Jannicke Krakvik. Their home is a reflection of the mix of their two cultures: Italian being bold, and Scandinavian being krisp, cool and sparse. Need I say more?

This space is truly an ideal spot in my book.  It is clean and minimal, and yet warm. With finishes I love such as concrete, old architecture such as paneled doors and mouldings, and a hint of warm woods and a few industrial touches. I can move in right now.

Lofty and Arty

If there is a wish list for an apartment, it is lofty ceilings to showcase art.  I love how everything is set low, resonating a 70s vibe, leaving all the blank canvas to create a gallery effect.

Compact Living | IKEA

There's no excuses -- going on a wonderful holiday trip traps you in vacation mode for some time. My lack of posts is a result of my difficulty getting back to reality.

But here I am once again setting up a new IKEA store here in the US. Hence, many new products have turned up and the inspiration is flooding through. We await the arrival of all the IKEA STOCKHOLM pieces, the KUNGSBACKA kitchen door, VEBERÖD storage, and more.

In Milan the IKEA Festival was quite the hype last month, and here is IKEA's take on compact living using some of the products mentioned above:

Styled by none other than Pella Hedeby, tiny living isn't so bad when it is like this! View the video footage of the presentation here.
